Unforgettable Children’s, Young Adult & Adult Library Programs in Long Island, NY, NJ & CT

Young Adult Library Programs
Children LOVE the magic, parents LOVE the positive messages, and Library directors LOVE the resulting increased book circulation!…

Here’s what they’re saying

"Monday's magic show was outstanding! The 95 children in the audience were astounded and amazed by your wizardry, and so was I, with 25 years as a children's librarian! Your illusions were definitely worth the extra fee. Another marvelous stunt was having KJ float in mid air - most impressive! We will definitely be having you back to the library for a repeat performance. Thank you for making exciting, quality children's programming possible for the young people in our community."

Mary Feldhaus, The Eastchester Public Library

"Excellent show! Creative! Positive lessons made parents happy! Perfect price, well worth the money. One of our best shows ever! The visuals were clear & the stories simple. We liked how you reached all age groups (even parents) so no one was bored! Keep us up-to-date with all your programs. Thank you for your patience and your professionalism."

Maryellen Cantanno, Freeport Library

"The show was paced well and age appropriate for our two different groups. The children enjoyed all of the shows."

Willie Schmidt, Director, Laurel Hill School Camp, East Setauket, NY

Unforgettable Library Magic Shows For Children, Young Adults, Adults on Long Island, NY, NJ & CT

“The Secret of An Unforgettable Children’s Library Program”

How would you like to have a Children’s Library Program that attracts and thrills more youngsters and their families? One that is silly enough to have younger children rolling with laughter, yet sophisticated enough to amaze older kids AND parents.

Imagine having a fantastic program that brings smiles and laughter to the entire audience!…

So what is the Library Show?
The show combines amazing magic, lots of audience participation, age appropriate humor, storytelling with reading promotion, a magical game and typically a breathtaking musical routine with mesmerizing special effects! For slightly larger budgets, we can add spectacular illusion(s), such as, floating a child in the air, sawing somebody “in half” or making them magically appear to introduce the show. Children also go crazy for an incredible animated talking picture!

This is an incredibly easy, fun way to hook kids into reading, and get them excited about your Summer Reading Club for example! Not just reading, but checking out & reading all kinds of books – fiction and non-fiction, from your library…

Most years I create a show in accordance with the Collaborative Summer Library Program Theme http://www.cslpreads.org

At the end of this unique, exciting adventure I typically give all children attending their “Reading Objectives List”. This is a list of topics discussed in the show and others youngsters are often interested in, with their associated Dewey Decimal System Numbers!

Kids go crazy over this and use it on their mission to check out at least one book from each topic from the library. How many programs get kids to actively learn and use the Dewey Decimal System, like this?

Children require lots of stimuli to maintain their attention. Lots of performers ignore this! They walk in and start right away with just a few juvenile props! To ensure this show completely captivates children’s attention, it takes as long to set up & then again take down, as it does to perform. As a result, you get the highest quality children’s magic show at a tremendous value, to build your program’s reputation!

YOUNG ADULT LIBRARY PROGRAMS

“How to Attract More Teens To A Young Adult Library Program”

As you know attracting young adults (5th grade through High School) to a library program is much more challenging than promoting a Children’s Show. If they perceive the offering as juvenile they won’t attend, nor will a “boring adult program” appeal to finicky teens and “tweens”!…
So what is the Library Show?
I offer different versions of this program to accommodate most budgets. The longer version includes a breathtaking musical routine finale, including amazing special effects and optional (but very safe) dramatic fire eating!

For slightly larger budgets, we can also add spectacular illusion(s), such as sawing somebody “in half” with a power buzz saw, floating them in the air, or an incredible animated talking picture!

Along with the “mentalism” effects, it combines visual demonstrations of mesmerizing magic/illusions, audience participation including an hypnotic “group induction”, clean comedy, an incredible memory feat and a spellbinding story!

During the course of the show, practical advice and techniques are shared with the audience on improving memory, reading speed, visualizing positive test results, intuition and even how to do a mind reading effect themselves!

Based on my former career as a Professional Engineer, your fun program can include educational and inspirational themes, such as where to learn more about self improvement (Hint: You work there!). Young adults (and their parents) really appreciate this, and you’ll get all the credit…

The program will also increase book circulation as they will want to check out magic and other hobby books I recommend. I suggest you put out a display and watch how fast they are checked out! They’ll even learn the Dewey Decimal System number for magic (793.8)!

Barbara Barbera, West Hampton Library, NY

“Excellent performance. Beyond my expectations. A mix of mind reading, magic with cards, books, etc, audience participation, the power of suggestion, and more. This performer did his homework. He knows what teens are reading, who their pop heroes are, what their career aspirations are and more. He used the library setting and his magic often had positive messages for teens. Performer was very attuned to the audience and library setting. He is a talented magician, comedian and mind reader!”
